Bird Watching and Nature Trail

Matagorda Bay has some of the best migratory bird-watching in the United States. You can find a slide show of Matagorda Bay wildlife here and you can view Audubon Society bird counts by species here (enter Texas in step one and the Matagorda County code TXMM in step two) A list of birds on Matagorda Island and the times of year they can be viewed is here (Excel format). The LCRA has interpretive and related park outdoor programs here.

Reservations

Reservations can be made through the Texas State Parks at 512/389-8900. If you are just looking for park information, or if you would like to reserve winter stay for more than two weeks, you can call the campground directly at 979-863-7120.
Getting There

The park is located where FM 2031 dead-ends into the Gulf of Mexico, just south of the town of Matagorda, Texas. Here is a map. Note that Google Maps shows the actual street address (6430 FM 2031) in the wrong place. Just take 2031 to the end and you will find us!
Camping Fees

RV sites all include full hookups, though the size of electrical connections vary by site. Sites range from $25-$35 a night, depending on location, electrical service, and time of year. Winter season monthly discounts are available - please call for information.
